Our History

In 2018, Dr. Matthew Flippen, Founder and President of Gracelyn, forecasted that K-12 schools would face significant staffing challenges that would harm children’s ability to reach their God-given potential. Enrollment rates in traditional university education programs had been declining at 5% per year for over a decade. Unfilled teacher vacancies were growing to over 250,000 annually and hitting our least-resourced communities the hardest.  The rapidly rising cost of higher education was making it harder and harder to pay back student loans on a teacher’s salary, keeping people from becoming educators

In 2021, after prayer, research and development, Matthew and a team of expert educators launched Gracelyn designed specifically to empower the 1.2 million non-certified staff already working in our school systems to become the solution to this critical need.  Since then, Gracelyn has been equipping, encouraging, supporting, and preparing a rapidly growing number of future educators.

Why we do what we do

Educators shape the hopes, dreams, and aspirations of their students. We believe that empowering passionate people with biblical-based skills and principles will bring out the best in our students.

01

HEART

We believe teaching is a calling. If you have a heart for children and a desire to help them grow, we’ll help you turn that passion into purpose-driven preparation.

02

FAMILY

Education starts at home—and we see every student as part of our extended family. We equip educators to build strong connections with families and communities.

03

IMPACT

Great educators change lives. Our programs focus on practical tools and spiritual formation so that your influence can extend far beyond the classroom.

04

Lead

Educators are leaders. We prepare you to lead with integrity, courage, and clarity—whether in the classroom, your community, or beyond.

We understand what it means to have a calling.

Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Gracelyn is committed to preparing passionate individuals to become impactful educators through affordable, flexible, and biblically grounded programs.

Gracelyn is currently growing enrollment in the Bachelor of Transformational Education, designed specifically to provide a path for non-certified school staff to earn an online education degree and become licensed teachers. All of Gracelyn’s programs are taught by experienced K-12 educators who are experts in their fields. Courses run in eight (8) week terms, offered five (5) times per year. The full 120-credit-hour degree costs $10,656, typically paid monthly at $222. Most Gracelyn students qualify for a 50% institutional scholarship, reducing the monthly cost to just $111.

Gracelyn also offers a Master’s in Transformational Education, created for those with a bachelor’s degree needing certification or those already-certified teachers seeking a deeper impact. The 22-month program provides graduate-level coursework grounded in biblical principles, practical strategies for classroom leadership, and preparation for long-term success in both teaching and school leadership roles.
